​About Derek Sivers

​Derek is a musician, circus performer, entrepreneur, speaker, and author.

​Originally from California, he accidentally started an independent music distribution company, CD Baby, that he ran for a decade before selling it for $22 million (source).

​CD Baby was the largest seller of independent music on the web, with over $100M in sales for over 150,000 musician clients.

​On his recent interview with Tim Ferries, he shared that he donated the majority to charity before renouncing his American citizenship and travelling the world.

​He's gained global recognition for his TED Talks, most notably "How To Build A Movement" which has 10million + plays.

​He's lived in Singapore, India, Belgium, England, and Portugal and now resides in New Zealand, where he continues to explore new ideas, projects and write.
