Ben Affleck Calls Divorce With Jennifer Garner Helping His Career Becoming an Actor

​Actor Ben Affleck is outspoken about his life experiences that have made him better. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the 48-year-old spoke candidly about something that has influenced his career.

​He admitted that what he experienced in the real world had more or less helped shape his career, including having children and his divorce from his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner. He then talked about his 2020 film, "The Way Back".

​"For me, the film tells a lot more about facts, whether it's about a long life, the ups and downs of life, or having children and divorce." I am currently at a point in life, where I have enough life experiences to be brought to a role thus making it very attractive to me. "

​The experiences he has had during his lifetime have helped shape him to become a better actor. Not only that, it also makes the career path of choice more attractive.

​According to him, the life lessons he learned over time influenced the types of films he was attracted to, namely those that tell about people who have disadvantages.

​"Getting older and having more intense and meaningful personal experiences has made acting much more interesting for me and in turn attracted me to the kind of films about people with disabilities," he added.

​Last year, while promoting "The Way Back," Ben told Diane Sawyer of Good Morning America about his journey to achieving serenity. During the interview, Affleck admitted that he never expected his struggle with addiction to lead to his divorce from Jennifer.

​"I don't want a divorce, I don't want to be a divorced person, I really don't want to be separated from my children," he said at the time. "It pissed me off because it means I'm not who I think it is and it hurts a lot and it's very disappointing."
