About Event

** This is a LIVE interview with author Penny Wincer about the craft of writing and reality of building a writing career. Attendees will be sent a recording after the interview. **

How can we transform an idea into a compelling nonfiction book?

As an interiors photographer, Penny Wincer found that walking through a stranger's home and listening to them explain the history of the space and the meaning of precious objects was one of the most joyful aspects of her work.

Penny transformed her experience into Home Matters: How our homes shape us, and we shape them. In the book, she takes readers through the houses of 13 artists and writers, inspiring us to reflect on how we want our own homes to feel.

Join us for a conversation with Penny as we discuss the craft of nonfiction, explore her book, and look at how writers can think deeply about their living spaces and what makes a house a home.

We’ll also discuss:

  • How to get to the heart of what your book is really about

  • How our environments can nurture our creativity

  • What it means to create and find home

  • How our homes shape our stories
