Bringing citizens closer to the EU and fighting disinformation”Exchange with the European Commission Director General for Communication
As the new European Commission starts its mandate, the EC President’s political guidelines for 2024-2029 have stressed the crucial importance of putting citizens at the heart of our democracy.
Only by engaging citizens and partners from civil society, academia, businesses and other sectors we can, as European Union, live up to the scale of the concerns and the challenges that people currently face in their lives.
With the information space being increasingly blurred by fake news and populism or external threats to democracy, building trust in the EU and strengthening our collective resilience also requires proactively countering disinformation and information manipulation.
What are the European Commission’s key priorities for the new mandate and how can communication and outreach contribute to engaging citizens in this collective mission?
These are the key themes that will be addressed by the European Commission Director General for Communication Dana Spinant on the occasion of her visit to Luxembourg.
The EC Representation in Luxembourg has the pleasure to invite the EU network members, civil society partners and partners from academia in Luxembourg to an exchange with DG Spinant on these topics. This is an opportunity to learn about the new European Commission priorities, as well as to provide your valuable views and suggestions for bringing citizens closer to the EU.
