Art sneaks up on us all the time. Sometimes it creeps in quietly. Other times it grabs our full attention in an instant. Maybe it's a bold painting hanging crooked in a hallway. Maybe it's a beat in a song that makes you pause mid-task. A movie scene might echo something real from your own life. Even graffiti scribbled on a brick wall can tug at your thoughts for weeks. This dinner is a chance to hit pause.
We get to ask each other: what creative moment or piece keeps circling your mind lately? Why does it matter now, of all times? There's usually a reason art lingers like that. We'll hear stories that show us how art helps us process things words can't quite reach. It’s a way to open up, drop our guard for a minute, and feel less alone in what we’re facing.
You don't have to know art history or recite poetry. Just be curious. Bring a memory, a feeling, or a song lyric stuck in your head right now. That’s enough. Let’s see what happens when we swap those parts of ourselves.
Meet Your Host: Christopher Gammil
Living the dream to learn the language, Chris Gammill arrived in Portugal '24 to immerse himself into the local culture. A California native, Chris and his Brazilian wife, Leticia, once homeschooled their children while traveling around the world for a year. Chris enjoys sports, traveling Portugal, and eating anything except liver! After several Portuguese language school experiences, Chris is putting thirty years of finance and education to work by launching Lighthouse Language School (September '25) to guide language learners through real-world experiences building confidence and community while speaking like a local. The immersive interactive approach to language learning is inspired by his global experiences and passion for learning.
