About Event

This drop-in group provides a landing place for meditators working with some or all of Rob Burbea’s approaches to practice including emptiness/insight practice as outlined in the book “Seeing that Frees”, samadhi practice (including energy body & jhana practice), metta, as well as imaginal practice and Soulmaking. Our discussions also include some of the broad considerations raised by Rob about what the path might look like for modern practitioners. The spirit of the group tends towards supporting the artful development of deep meditative practice, while at the same time encouraging the cultivation of a beautiful and skillful relationship to our world.

People practicing in other styles/new to Rob’s approaches are welcome.  While Rob’s recorded teachings form the shared basis for our exchange, the conversation is inclusive of other practice perspectives.

The meetings generally follow a similar format: 30-40 min guided practice, a short teaching, and time for questions + reports from the group. For the time being, we will offer a different practice theme on the same week of each month.  Currently those practice themes are:

  • 1st Wed. of the month: Samadhi / Energy Body Practice

  • 2nd Wed. of the month: Imaginal Practice

  • 3rd Wed. of the month: Insight / Emptiness Practice

  • 4th Wed. of the month: Dharma Talk or Discussion (various themes)
