About Event

This webinar will feature two esteemed members of the plant and pollinator communities, who will share about their respective work concerning restoration practices, safe plant sourcing, and the fan-favorite pollinator plant, milkweed.

Chris Taliga is an ecologist on the USDA National Plant Data team whose current work focuses on milkweed surveys across the United States, exploring milkweed importance, diversity, local ecotypes, and how people can best implement milkweed in their yards for pollinators.

Sharon Selvaggio, a staff member in The Xerces Society’s Pesticide Program, studies the risks of pesticides and helps people move away from pesticide reliance toward prevention-based pest management. In her presentation, she will share the strategies that the Xerces Society is using to source pollinator-safe plants for monarch and pollinator restoration, and identify ways to work with your local green industry to shift growing and buying practices.
