​Topic: What FIDIC standard forms of contract need to consider.

​Dr. Boswell was the General Manager of FIDIC in Geneva, Switzerland for more than 11 years, overseeing global operations in 100 countries.

​He received his MA in Materials Engineering from Cambridge and his PhD from MIT.

​He is a Chartered Engineer in the UK and a member of professional materials engineering associations in the US, UK and Australia.

​He has been training regularly for FIDIC on a wide range of subjects.

​He currently runs PeterBoswell.com near Geneva, Switzerland.

Lina Zureikat
Construction Claims Consultant and Arbitrator

β€‹β€‹πŸ‡―πŸ‡΄ This will be an in-person presentation in Jordan.

​Topic: Key changes to the dispute resolution mechanism under FIDIC 2017 contracts.

​Lina is a holder of a Master's degree in Civil Engineering and also a Master's degree in Construction Law and Arbitration from Robert Gordon University.Β 

​Lina is a chartered quantity surveyor with 20 years of industry experience and 14 years of experience in performing cause and effect analyses of major delay and disruption claims, preparation of quantum claims and rebuttal of claims.Β 

​Lina acts as an arbitrator on several construction disputes (Sole Arbitrator and member of tripartite tribunals), and has been also appointed on several occasions as a party appointed Expert Witness (delay and quantum).


Hazem Khirfan

​Topic: Time bar under Jordanian civil law and prematurity of disputes.

​Hazem Khirfan is a licensed attorney in Jordan, and was educated both in Jordan and the United Kingdom. Hazem has extensive experience in dispute resolution, in both traditional and alternative dispute resolution proceedings, as well as considerable experience in finance and infrastructure projects.

​In addition to being managing partner of the Firm, where his main focus is leading the Dispute Resolution Department and the Commercial Department, Hazem advises Airport International Group and oversees the long-term legal strategy and compliance component of the rehabilitation, operation, and expansion project of Queen Alia International Airport.

​Hazem also has a Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration from the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and successfully completed and obtained the Global ACI-ICAO Airport Management Professional Accreditation Programme (AMPAP).

β€‹πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡¦ This will be a virtual presentation from Saudi Arabia.

​Topic: Navigating the Employer's business processes behind the Engineer's decisions.

​Hussein is a Senior Manager at PwC’s Middle East Capital Projects and Infrastructure Unit, bringing over 13 years of consulting experience in capital projects commercial and contract management. He is a Civil Engineer, a certified quantity surveyor (RICS) and a certified project management professional (PMP) with extensive experience working on high-value civil engineering, infrastructure, and building construction projects across the MENA and GCC regions.

​Hussein's expertise includes leading the establishment and operation of the regional contract management unit for a major GCC construction group and serving as a contracts manager and administrator for multi million projects. He was also part of a number of alternative dispute resolution forums, acting in the capacity of a party appointed expert.

​Hussein's recent focus is on advising key mega-project developers on the business processes and controls related to setting contracting strategies, managing programs, contracts and disputes.


Sandi Rhys Jones

β€‹πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ This will be a virtual presentation from the United Kingdom.

Topic: Law, language and perception on the management of conflict.

Sandi Rhys Jones is the Immediate Past President and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building, the largest international professional body for construction managers and leaders. She is a businesswoman and non-executive director with many years experience running her consultancy for the construction, engineering and property sectors in the UK and abroad. She is a chartered construction manager with an understanding of procurement, contracts and dispute resolution, completing the MSc course in Construction Law and Arbitration at King’s College London. She is an accredited mediator, using the techniques in day to day management of conflict and change.

​A long-time champion of the contribution that construction makes to society, she is also an advocate for the change and improvements that are required and has been recognised for her work with an OBE from the late Queen Elizabeth 11, three Honorary Doctorates, and numerous industry awards. Sandi is Fellow of the Women’s Engineering Society, a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and an associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

​She is currently consultant, non-executive director and facilitator at RhysJones Consultants in South West England.
