Oxford UX Festival Masterclasses: Presenting with the Oxford Design System
Speaker
Nanami Nakamura, UX Designer @ University of Oxford UX Centre of Excellence. A' design award Bronze winner.
Topic
A design system is a collection of User Interface (UI) parts to enable people to design digital products such as websites and mobile apps in a faster, better user experience and accessible manner with less effort. You can design a digital product by assembling and customising the UI parts.
As a designer from the User Experience (UX) Centre of Excellence at University Administration and Services (UAS), I am creating the Oxford Design System, which is the original design system for the University of Oxford. I am using Figma, a world-standard UI design software to create it.
In this workshop, you will learn how to design a website with Figma and the Oxford Design System by creating a website to introduce your research. It will be a hands-on session, so please bring your laptop and download and sign up for Figma in advance. Also, you will learn the basic concepts of Web Accessibility, to make your website accessible to people with disabilities.
Potential application to your research
If you have an idea of a website or app for your research, you will be able to visualise it with Figma and the Oxford Design System. Also, you can make your portfolio website to showcase your research with Figma and generate a sharing link when applying for future jobs.
The output of this workshop
The output of this workshop will be a Figma prototype, which you can generate a link and share with others. Please note this workshop does not include coding.
