About Event

Intro

AI is the most important technological shift of the 21st century, but general market sentiment has gotten ahead of short term commercial value. Very few AI companies being formed will work, while the ones that do are going to rewire civilization. In order to understand the present moment, we will cover some of the history of AI, discuss the reality of what AI actually does, and then dissect what is different this time with the age of GenAI .

Speaker Bio

Keith Adams is a founder and General Partner at Pebblebed, an early-stage venture capital firm supporting innovation in AI. Prior to starting Pebblebed, he was Chief Architect at Slack for 4 years, and was an engineer at Facebook (now Meta) from 2009 to 2015, where he founded Facebook AI Research (FAIR) in 2013. He began his career as the 20th engineer at VMware. He is the author of 14 US patents covering computing, and has written widely cited academic papers about systems, programming languages, and artificial intelligence.


Pamela Vagata is a seasoned technologist and investor, currently leading Pebblebed, the early stage venture firm she cofounded, specializing in early-stage AI tech investments. Pamela has spent her career at the leading edge of AI innovation. She has been a founding member of OpenAI and former technical leader of Stripe's AI team, building on a rich history at Microsoft and Facebook, where she pioneered GPGPU efforts and created the category of MLOps with her trailblazing tool, FBLearner Flow, still in heavy use. Her insights into AI's technical underpinnings inform her views of its transformative potential.
