FarmerChat: genAI for Agricultural Extension

​Join us for another talk in our seminar series on leveraging generative AI tools like LLMs for the social sector.

This talk will highlight how FarmerChat, an AI-enabled tool developed by Digital Green, uses artificial intelligence to support the under-staffed agricultural advisory system in Kenya, India, and Ethiopia by providing up-to-date demand-driven advice on farming practices. Available on Telegram, in English and local languages, FarmerChat equips agricultural extension agents with immediate answers to farmers' queries, improving their confidence and performance. Initial feedback suggests significant enhancements to agents' self-efficacy, in turn leading to better service quality for farmers and increased resilience. We are planning for rigorous evaluations to measure this tool's impact on work performance and farmer outcomes. This unique event will offer valuable insights into building a resilient and productive agricultural system through generative AI.
