Join us for an exclusive event where you’ll gain the latest insights on climate skills and their critical role in building a sustainable workforce. This event, co-presented by the Australian American Association, brings together thought leaders from LinkedIn, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the climate action authority, OnePointFive.

Coffee and snacks are on us as you hear from Efrem Bycer, LinkedIn’s Sustainability & Workforce Policy lead, and Cristina Contreras from the ASME Committee on Sustainability, discuss the future of the climate workforce amid the urgent need and growing gap of skilled workers in a panel moderated by Neil Yeoh, CEO & Founder of OnePointFive.

Net-Zero commitments have grown exponentially in the past few years, requiring an unprecedented climate workforce with green skills to make meaningful progress.

Latest LinkedIn data shows that there is a 2x green skills gap, where job postings grew at ~10% from 2023 to 2024, but the share of green talent has only grown by ~5% over the same period.

Today, organizations are challenged to build climate competencies through internal lateral hiring and upskilling, alongside external hiring and contracting. And executives can no longer rely on scouting “Sustainability Unicorns” with matching green skills and industry experience.

Expert Insights You’ll Gain:

  • Why we need a new way of hiring for climate skills; hiring a “Sustainability Unicorn” isn’t working

  • How to identify the specific green skills needed in your industry while keeping in mind existing organizational structures

  • Best practices, approaches, and principles for any organizational leaders (e.g. Executives, People Teams, L&D, department heads) to build an effective climate workforce to reach Net-Zero and beyond

Doors will open at 12:30 PM EST, and the panel will begin at 1:00 PM EST. After the panel, stay for light networking and the chance to connect with the panelists and the OPF team!
