Letting the Littlest Learners Lead: Insights on K-2 Agency @ ASU+GSV
What does it look like when the youngest learners take the lead on what they learn and how fast they progress? How do we support autonomy and agency in the early elementary years? In this interactive workshop, learn from two innovative school communities that made the shift from traditional grade-based progression to a fully competency-based system.
Lindsay Unified and Red Bridge have been working together for the last 2 years with the support of Transcend and the Silicon Schools Fund to demystify K-2 agency. In the workshop, you'll:
Experience the new K-2 Agency Primer, which distills the latest collection of research on early learner agency
Hear and see what this looks like and what it took from on-the-ground practitioners
Get to play with a set of agency practice cards to put the research into action, whether you're a K-12 leader or an ed tech innovator focused on reaching the youngest students
Featured Speakers:
Cynthia Leck, Transcend
Orly Friedman, Red Bridge
Cinnamon Scheufele, Lindsay Unified School District
Christine Mcjunkin, Lindsay Unified School District
Moderated by Nikolaus Namba from Transcend.
