About Event

The African continent already has created 7 unicorns, most of them FinTechs. With the rapid development of many tech ecosystems, more and more startups are being created each day. We are at the dawn of unparalleled innovation and growth, which will bring about inspiring and impactful champions shaping both Africa and the whole world. Who are these firms? Where are they? What opportunities and challenges are in front of them? That and more we will discuss in our upcoming investor lounge.

Meet your guest: Collaborator-in-Chief at TVC Labs, Co-Founder Zeitec & LAN, Founding President of ABAN

Tomi Davies, widely known as TD, is a visionary leader in Africa's tech ecosystem. As the Collaborator-in-Chief at TVC Labs in Lagos, Nigeria, and a co-founder of Zeitec and the Lagos Angel Network (LAN), TD has been at the forefront of nurturing innovation and investment across Africa. He also serves as the founding President of the African Business Angel Network (ABAN) and a board member of the Global Business Angel Network (GBAN).

After graduating from the University of Miami in 1982, TD led innovative technology-driven transformations for global brands such as Elf Aquitaine, Marks & Spencer, Ernst & Young, and Sapient across Europe, the United States, and Southeast Asia. In 2000, his focus shifted to Africa, where he has since worked on various technology-led initiatives in Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana, and Kenya, inspiring many with his goal-oriented approach to project delivery, which he detailed in his 2014 book, “The African Project Manager.”

Recognized as one of the “100 Most Influential Africans of 2021” by New African Magazine, TD continues to shape the future of African startups. He is Chairman of Powerstove (Renewables) and a Non-Executive Director at MBO Capital (Private Equity), sitting on the boards of Big Cabal Media (Media & Entertainment), Trove (Fintech), Omnibiz (eCommerce), and Laptops4Learning (L4L) Nigeria (Edutech NGO). He also chairs the Innovation Committee of the Lagos State Science, Research, and Innovation Council (LASRIC).

TD's personal mission, “Find, Fund & Follow2Exit,” is dedicated to supporting African founders using technology-enabled innovation to create economic value and social impact. His 2023 book, “Investment Worthy Startup,” introduces the POEM Framework as a tool for founders and investors building tech-enabled startups on the continent.
Driven by intellect, innovation, integrity, and collaboration, TD passionately supports Africa's startup ecosystem, championing technology as a catalyst for improving lives and empowering startups to create economic value and social impact.
