About Event

New for 2025!

Want to try 3D modelling but don’t know where to start?

Join us for a friendly, hands-on workshop with Livi Wilmore, digital artist and creative technologist at Electric Medway.

In this one-hour session, you will follow along as Livi shows you how to use SculptGL. It is a free, easy-to-use 3D modelling tool that works in your browser. By the end, you will have created a realistic virtual pastry, a fun way to learn about shape, texture and detail, even if this is your first time with 3D design.

Livi will also introduce Niantic 8th Wall studio, a new browser-based augmented reality tool. You will see how to turn your 3D model into an interactive experience using image tracking and location features. Livi will highlight simple templates that make it easy to get started with augmented reality on the web.

What you will learn:

  • How to sculpt a virtual pastry using SculptGL’s key tools

  • Tips to add realistic details quickly as a beginner

  • How to export your model and place it in augmented reality using 8th Wall

  • How to customise ready-made templates in 8th Wall studio

What you need:

  • A PC or Mac with an internet connection

  • Access to a web browser such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Edge

  • That’s it! No downloads or special software required

About Livi Wilmore

Livi is a UK-based artist who works with 3D graphics, animation and immersive storytelling. She studied in Medway and now creates playful augmented reality projects across the UK. Her work explores digital culture, local history and how we see the world.

Since joining Electric Medway in 2021, Livi has worked on:

  • Jezreels 2.0, an augmented reality and website project about local history at Gillingham Library

  • Medway Megaliths, a youth-led digital drama with custom face filters

  • Voyage of the ancient beasts, an augmented reality boat ride on the River Medway

  • An animated motion-capture soldier installation for Upnor Castle, launched in spring 2024
