Human Centered Design Monthly Working Group Meeting
Join us on Thursday, Feb 13th at 10am PT/1pm ET for our next Human-Centered Design Working Group Session! We’ll review best practices for creating user personas and mapping user journeys. Then we’ll discuss these HCD tools in the context of a specific project that’s building a Conservation Cost Database (CCD) for NRCS employees to support producers. Key project partners include Our Sci, Purdue AxiLab, and OpenTEAM. All are welcome!
We're excited to invite Nikki Stief as a guest HCD expert to share about best practices and case studies.
Nikki Stief is a user researcher and service designer working at the intersection of technology, innovation and social impact. Much of her work has been focused on agriculture and sustainability: her experience in the sector includes leading user research at Indigo, an agriculture/sustainability tech company in the U.S., designing a mobile app for strawberry farmers with Nuup, a Mexican agtech social enterprise, designing a voice-based agriculture marketplace for smallholder farmers with Viamo, and helping the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) identify opportunities for digital schools in the U.S. government's food security portfolio around the world. She's based in Berkeley, CA and has a MA in International Policy from Stanford and BA in Peace and Conflict Studies from UC Berkeley.
About the HCD Working Group:
The Human Centered Design Working Group supports the OpenTEAM community to approach open technology from the perspective of users, ensuring products are usable and useful from the user’s perspective. This working group provides a space where participants can present and receive feedback from the agricultural tech community on design projects at any stage of development.
