About Event

Discover the future of economic empowerment with Dr. Rachel Laryea '23, author of Black Capitalists: A Blueprint for What Is Possible. Rachel will be joined in conversation by Professor Doug Rogers for a powerful and thought-provoking discussion on the themes, insights, and real-world strategies found in her groundbreaking debut.

About the Book:

Black Capitalists challenges the narrative of Black economic struggle by highlighting what’s possible when ambition meets strategy. With historical insight and forward-thinking analysis, Rachel Laryea offers a bold blueprint for building wealth, power, and sustainable community growth.

In Conversation:

Rachel Laryea is a Ghanaian-American scholar, entrepreneur, and cultural commentator. Rachel’s work bridges business, race, and history to reimagine how Black communities can thrive within—and beyond—capitalist systems.

Doug Rogers is Professor and Chair of Anthropology at Yale University. He writes and teaches about corporations, especially in the energy sector, and especially in Russia and the former Soviet Union.

Come ready for a dynamic evening of conversation, community, and vision. Whether you're a student, entrepreneur, investor, or lifelong learner—this event is for you. Light refreshments will be served.
