About Event

Are you a job seeker from the federal or adjacent sectors wondering how to stay relevant in the age of AI?

Join the DC Public Library for a new pilot program designed to help you build the skills and confidence to navigate today’s shifting job market, supported by a cohort of peers.

This free, community-driven AI Upskilling Cohort will launch in August 2025, with introductory workshops kicking off this July.

Join an Intro Workshop in July

Get a taste of the program before it starts! We’re hosting a series of free workshops in July at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library (downtown DC):

  • 90-min Intro Workshop: Led by an AI expert, Andrew Sheves, we'll cover:

    • what AI really is (and isn’t)

    • why you need more than one AI tool and how to pick the right tool for the job

    • how to structure your prompts (and what is a prompt anyways?)

    • finding a quick AI win for your work or life & testing it out live in the workshop

  • 30-min Demo + Q&A: Watch real use cases in action—from resume building to project management—and ask your burning questions

This is a hands-on workshop designed to have you put AI to work at the session. Bring your laptops (some devices may be available from the library).

Open to all with basic computer skills and curiosity about AI, but especially helpful for former federal knowledge workers navigating career transitions.

Andrew Sheves is an experienced international management consultant who has a life-long passion for applying technology to problem solving. He is the founder of Decis Intelligence -- an AI platform providing decision-support intelligence for strategic decision-makers – and is an enthusiastic proponent of applying AI in business.

About the Program (August–October)

This isn’t a course—it’s a community of learners navigating AI together. Designed for former federal employees and those in adjacent sectors, the program will help you:

  • Build AI literacy and practical skills

  • Identify your “irreplaceable” human strengths

  • Create a final project to showcase your learning

Sound like fun? Fill out our interest form here - applications launching soon.
