About Event

Hosted by Akbar Hamid, Jessel Taank, Junaid Mahmood, Anu Rao, Hiba Irshad, and Trisha Sakhuja-Walia, you’re cordially invited to a special New York City screening of ‘A Nice Indian Boy.’

A Nice Indian Boy' is a heartfelt romantic comedy from the brilliant minds of Roshan Sethi and Karan Soni. Adapted from Madhuri Shekar’s acclaimed play, the film explores love, identity, and cultural expectations through the lens of a queer, interethnic relationship. It is more important now than ever to show up, share and encourage everyone to watch this film. If we want more brown representation on-screen we need to show up for our community!

Follow the story of Naveen Gavaskar (played by Soni), a sweet, nerdy Indian-American doctor who introduces his fiancé, Jay Kurundkar (played by Jonathan Groff)—a white man adopted by Indian parents—to his traditional family. What follows is a witty, heartwarming journey as the couple navigates the chaos of planning a big fat Indian wedding and the complexities of family acceptance.

Premiering at SXSW and receiving a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, ‘A Nice Indian Boy’ is a joyful celebration of being brown, queer, and unapologetically yourself.
