SKETCH is back—bigger and bolder!
Join us for an exciting peek into works in progress for What Now: 2026, ArtPhilly’s inaugural citywide multidisciplinary arts festival featuring over 30 original commissions from artists interpreting the nation's semiquincentennial.
The morning portion of SKETCH 2025 will feature:
Updates from the ArtPhilly team and an unveiling of our new animation and festival logo
Live music performed by Dr. Kendrah Butler-Waters & Ensemble
Performance by choreographer Shavon Norris accompanied by vocalist Elle Morris
A drag opera snippet conceived by Andrea Clearfield and Cookie Diorio
Brunch catered by Kampar
The afternoon will feature dynamic performances:
A performance by singer Laurin Talese
A dance performance by BalletX
A poetry reading by Yolanda Wisher and Trapeta Mayson
A film screening by Glenn Holsten
A moderated artist’s talk centered around dance legacy and evolution with choreographer Tommie-Waheed Evans
Finally, SKETCH will conclude with a multidisciplinary immersive experience by artist Rashid Zakat, incorporating music, movement, and film.
Throughout the day, there will also be various artist installations related to What Now: 2026 projects including works from Eric Battle, Colette Fu, Walé Oyédijé, Pete Angevine, Emily Schreiner, Liz Yohlin Baill, and Chef Laquanda Dobson.

This event is family-friendly! While kids are welcome, we ask that they remain with their guardians and refrain from running or playing in the event area.
