About Event

The 2024 Civil Society Youth Representative Steering Committee Regional Youth Led Chats are recurrently hosted virtual conversations organized with the support of the United Nations Department for Global Communications, Civil Society Unit. These conversations aim to engage a wider audience of young people in advocacy and leadership on the global agenda and also to expand the outreach of the Civil Society Youth Representatives Steering Committee to young people working on solutions to global challenges. These conversations will also serve as a launchpad to creating emphasis and outreach on the next decade’s issues about youth and the subsequent solutions or interventions.

Regional Chats Series Hosted by the United Nations Department of Global Communications Youth Steering Committee.

This inaugural regional chat will focus on the topic lurking variable: using data and technology for the public good. Our host will be Nipuna Ambanpola, Executive Director of IVolunteer International and a Civil Society Youth Representative serving on the United Nations Department for Global Communications Youth Steering Committee. Our guest will be Daniel González, Business and Sustainability Specialist at the Yale University.

Daniel González and Nipuna Ambanpola will engage on a discussion on data, technology, innovation, and strategies on the environment and climate space and how these interventions incorporate human-centered solutions. The discussion will focus on how youth at the local level are engaged in the decision making process and observations of stark failures (and successes).
