Waterloo Smart Cities Community Event
On Monday, November 8th, 2021, from 2 pm to 4 pm EDT, the Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC) will be holding a public engagement session (via ZOOM) to openly discuss the notion of a smart Waterloo. We want to hear from you, Waterloo residents!
Although “smart cities” is a bit of a buzzword, the impact of smart technologies is widespread. They could impact safety, time, convenience, health, environmental quality and many other aspects of quality of life. What smart city technologies influence the way we live and work in Waterloo? Will smart developments change our experience of living in Ontario? What should be done to ensure smart city technologies remain inclusive and accessible?
Please join us on Monday, November 8th, from 2 pm to 4 pm EDT, to discuss these important questions, engage with others from your community, and offer your thoughts and suggestions on what your ideal future urban space should look like.
This community engagement session will provide:
An overview of smart cities in Waterloo and across Canada
An analysis of new smart technology and its impact on a smart Waterloo
Real-time interaction with other participants on future smart city plans
*Following this event, ICTC will publish an overview article allowing all participants to share insights from this virtual forum.

TOVA DAVIDSON, Executive Director, Sustainable Waterloo Region
Tova leads our organization under the Board of Directors, by developing our strategic direction, supporting team members, and is responsible for building key relationships throughout the Waterloo region. She brings her experience in public relations and communications to creatively approach sustainability opportunities. Paired with her business background she is primed to collaborate with top organizations in Waterloo Region to drive change locally and provincially.
Having been selected by The Guelph Mercury for Top 40 Under 40, and the recipient of the Mayor’s Award of Excellence, Tova leads by example while inspiring others to do the same.
