Gardening for the Climate: WAC Seattle Community Work Party with Tilth Alliance
Let's get our hands dirty - for real!
No green thumb? No problem. Come outside, get off screens, and help make a big difference to a little patch of mother earth. No experience necessary! Tools and gloves will be provided.
Tilth Alliance works with Washington farmers, gardeners and eaters to build a sustainable, healthy and equitable food future.
Rainier Beach Urban Farm & Wetlands is a city park where Tilth Alliance and community members come together to grow food and work to restore the wetlands through powerful partnerships. This unique location provides opportunities to tend native and beneficial plants on the Pollinator Hillside, plant and harvest crops in the production farm and U-Pick areas, remove aggressive plant species in the wetlands, tend to the children’s garden, and lend a hand in the greenhouses.
This event is for those identifying as women or nonbinary. We occasionally have events for other friends and allies so if that is not how you identify, stay tuned for future events.
Transportation:
Please carpool, bike, or take public transit if possible. The farm is a 10-15 minute walk from stops on bus routes 7 and 9, or a 20 minute walk from the Rainier Beach light rail stop at MLK and Henderson.
Limited parking is available on the farm. Additional street parking can be found at Beer Sheva Park or the Atlantic City Boat Ramp lot south of the farm, with an approximately 0.3 mile walk through Beer Sheva park to the farm.
When you arrive, please check in at the volunteer welcome station at the green house near the main parking area (look for signs).
