About Event

On Tuesday, March 1st, from 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM (EST), the Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC), in partnership with the City of Toronto, will be holding a public engagement session via Zoom to discuss the state of Toronto’s technology ecosystem and Canada's smart cities project.

In this session, we invite residents of the Greater Toronto Area to share and explore issues and opportunities that impact them today and how smart technologies might contribute to those issues and opportunities. We want to hear from you, GTA residents, and as a thank you, your coffee is on us with a $5 Starbucks gift card for all those that participate in the group discussion!

Although 'smart cities' may by be a bit of a buzzword, its impacts can be felt far and wide. The technology of smart cities affects every aspect of the city, from streetlights to sidewalks, to environmental sustainability. But the question is, what other smart city technologies can influence the way we live and work in Toronto? How will new 'smart' developments impact your experience in the GTA? What needs to take place to ensure that Toronto implements smart technologies effectively, but also in a way that is inclusive and accessible?

Join us on Tuesday, March 1st, from 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM (EST), to explore these important questions, engage with others in the community, and provide your thoughts and suggestions on what your future Toronto could look like.

This event is open to all Toronto residents and those from the outlying region who would like to share their insight, experiences, and engage with others on the issue.

This community engagement session will provide:

  • A brief update on the state of smart cities in Toronto and across Canada

  • A presentation on the city’s Digital Infrastructure Plan

  • Engagement with fellow Toronto residents on the topic of future smart city developments

*Following this event, ICTC will publish an overview article allowing all participants to share insights from this virtual forum.

ICTC is pleased to introduce you to our esteemed subject matter expert who will be joining the discussion on February 8th :
