The Back Channel: Chief of Staff's Private Dinner | #LATechWeek
I started off in the operations team and found myself naturally stepping into the role of Chief of Staff Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with incredible CoS from companies like a16z, Carta (with Henry Ward), Replit (with Amjad Masad), and Amplitude (with Jeffrey Wang). It’s fascinating to see how the role adapts based on a company’s priorities.
Some Chief of Staffs focus on the operational backbone, while others handle investor relations or even take on sales responsibilities for the CEO. The versatility of the role is what makes it so dynamic and essential, often serving as a fast track to executive positions. Henry Ward’s insights on the Chief of Staff role highlight the immense value of this network, where we can learn from one another and support our career growth.
This inspired me to create a community called The Back Channel. The name reflects the reality that Chief of Staffs are the ones who get things done behind the scenes. They are the connectors, the facilitators, and the driving force that keeps everything on track. Through this community, we can share experiences, strategies, and resources to amplify our impact and navigate our unique challenges together. Join us as we build a supportive network dedicated to excellence in our roles!
