The World Restoration Economy: Investing in Nature
A lunchtime discussion looking at how to mobilize finance at scale to restore nature, invest in nature and Nature-based Solutions (NbS) and deliver for people and communities. The session will explore how to take finance for nature to the next level while upholding climate justice.
Mary Robinson, Co-Founder of the Dandelion Project and Former President of Ireland will set the stage and share her perspective on aligning green finance with climate justice. The finance sector and business will play a critical role in powering nature finance and adopting Nature-based solutions, so we will hear from Julian Wentzel, Group Chief Sustainability Officer, HSBC; Adonai Herrera-Martínez, Director of the Environment and Sustainability Department at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and David Croft, Global Head of Sustainability, Reckitt. How finance flows, to whom it flows and how it is managed, significantly affects its impact on climate justice so we'll also hear from Luana Kaingang, Indigenous Leader, Kaingang people. And WWF will share its own experience supporting NbS projects to investment readiness and navigating integrity with bankability.
