Trauma Informed Satipatthana
Trauma Informed Satipatthana with Amma Thanasanti
5 Tuesdays, February 13–March 12, 7–8:30 pm
See schedule below
Link for Zoom will be sent to those who register.
This class will use the Satipatthana Sutta as a guide to learn the Buddha’s teachings on the Four Foundations of Mindfulness and apply trauma-informed principles to these instructions.
This Sutta is highly regarded in all of the 10,000 of the Buddha’s discourses because it contains a complete set of teachings designed for freedom. As extensive and liberating as the Four Foundations’ teachings are, when trauma is present, it can interfere with putting the teachings into practice.
Each class will be 90 minutes and contain a guided meditation, Dharma talk, and discussion.
Amma will be in person on the first and last class
Schedule:
Feb 13: Body (Hybrid, Amma present at SFDC)
Feb 20: Vedana and Emotions (Online Only)
Feb 27: Hindrances (Online Only)
March 5: Factors of Awakening (Online Only)
March 12: Four Noble Truths (Hybrid, Amma present at SFDC)
Amma Thanasanti brings decades of experience studying and practicing a trauma-informed approach to The Four Foundations of Mindfulness.
This class is open to all meditators, regardless of their experience. We will provide a safe and supportive space to explore these topics.
