About Sara Payan
Sara Payan is a cannabis industry professional and subject matter expert, experienced in MSO growth from a single store to a multi-state presence. As a business development leader, she consults on successful consumer acquisition/conversion strategies, buying trends, product development and menu (product) curation with a deep understanding of stage of life usage and methods of ingestion in the medicinal and adult-use markets. With over a decade of industry experience guiding and educating the public, Payan has her finger on the pulse of the industry regarding consumer trends and product life cycles and has consulted with numerous brands. She creates successful engagement through marketing, educational and training opportunities for companies, healthcare institutions, policymakers and the public through consultation, curriculum and media production.
Sara worked for the Apothecarium as their Director of Education and Public Education Officer for over a decade. She sits on the California Cannabis Advisory Committee, where she is the chair of the Medical Use Subcommittee and was an appointee of the San Francisco Cannabis Oversight Committee and Co-Chair of the San Francisco State Cannabis Legalization Taskforce. She is an engaged media professional who has published national editorials, participated in industry panel presentations and is the producer and host of the "Planted with Sara Payan" podcast, an ongoing conversation encompassing the vast world of cannabis, focusing on education & policy. Featured guests include former RNC Chair Michael Steele, music legend David Crosby, Congresswoman Barbara Lee and Congressman Earl Blumenauer.
