Playing It Safe(r): Better Practices for Technological Security

Now that FOSTA (States and Victims to Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act) and CLOUD (Clarifying Lawful Overseas Use of Data Act) have passed and two new related Acts are pending in the House of Representatives (EARN IT - Eliminating Abusive and Rampant Neglect of Interactive Technologies and LAED - Lawful Access To Encrypted Data), are you doing enough to protect yourself and your data?
I’ll be teaching better practices for technological safety to help keep you and your data as law-abiding and secure as currently possible when you use phone carrier networks and the internet.
Topics will include hosting your own website, using browsers to access the internet, messaging services, bitcoin, and more.

This meeting will be held on Zoom. Closed Captioning will be provided by AI (Rev), which I know is less than ideal. There will be no interpreters during this class. Please email me (contact the host) if you are interested in taking this class with CART or ASL and I will notify you when the class will be held.
I know how important it is to provide language accommodations but I am unable to do so for this class session as I don't personally have the money, nor is there enough time to raise the money or secure a sponsor to cover the costs of language support.
About Me:
I am a disabled person who is awaiting a hearing for SSI and is having major surgery on July 31st. I've been living on around $200 USD per month and varying in-kind support for the past year. I am using money raised from this class to supplement my living expenses as my checking account and ABLE account (a savings account for people with disabilities) will have nothing in them by the end of July -- hence the last minute decision to hold this class.
