About Event

Join us as we welcome Ashley Hartman Annis (they/she) for Your Cervix is Fucking Magical (and other things you didn't know about the menstrual cycle) on Wednesday, April 12th at 7:00pm EST over Zoom!

This workshop will be recorded and will be made available to everyone who registers for 7 days following the workshop.

About the workshop: This workshop will look at the menstrual cycle from three different angles: what happens hormonally, what happens physically, and what happens emotionally / mentally at different points in the cycle. This information will help folks with menstrual cycles understand the different emotions, energy levels, libido patterns (and so much more!) that come with the different phases of the cycle. It can also support folks who don't have a menstrual cycle to understand the ebb & flow of the cycles in the people they are in relationship with. This information can also be useful in trying to conceive, trying to NOT conceive, and also just getting to know your wise, beautiful body a little better.

By the end of this workshop you will:

  • Understand the hormones of the menstrual cycle (FSH, estrogen, LH, progesterone), including when/where they are secreted, and how they affect the brain and the body

  • Gain a deeper understanding of how fertility/conception/pregnancy occurs

  • Know of different options for cycle tracking (apps & paper), what it is you might want to start tracking (basal body temperatures, cervical mucus, cervical changes, energy levels), and what a typical cycle might look like.

This workshop is expected to run between 90 and 120 minutes.

About Ashley Hartman Annis:

Ashley (they/she) is a full spectrum doula, a fertility educator, and a TRE (tension & trauma release) provider and zine maker in Madison, WI. They believe that birthwork, reproductive work, and trauma work are simultaneously personal political—although we are incredibly resilient and have so much capacity for mental, emotional, physical healing it’s still crucial to recognize the way institutions & systems of power (racism, patriarchy, capitalism, etc.) affect our bodies, families, & communities. For Ashley, the part work of a doula educator is about trusting that people know what’s best for their unique journey and supporting people in finding the information, resources, & support to make the decisions that are best for them—another part of the work is recognizing and dismantling systems of oppression that create and perpetuate much of the pain & trauma we experience in the first place.
