About Event

​Join us as we welcome Sydney Rae Chin (She/Her, They/Them) for Title IX and its Pitfalls on Thursday, October 21st at 7:00 PM EST over Zoom!

​​This workshop will be recorded and will be made available for a limited time to everyone who registers.

TW: Greek life complacency, carceral feminism, rape apology, institutional suppression of victims/survivors, rape/assault/intimate partner violence, institutional complictness.

Workshop Description; In this discussion space, we will learn/unlearn about Title IX within US higher ed, its roots in carceral feminism, co-opting of liberation frameworks, and the role community members play in disrupting these systems. Through this co-created space, we will dream of how community organizations and members can better support victims/survivors outside of reporting.

Goals including unlearning systems of oppression that affect victims/survivors within higher ed. By the end, participants will have an understanding the pitfalls of the Title IX and its carceral roots. They will be able to incorporate this information into community building and organizing to better support student victims/survivors.

About Sydney Rae Chin

Sydney Rae Chin(She/Her, They/Them) is a deconstruction + liberation edu-guide empowering humans to breakup with societal norms to reclaim their wholeness through intuitive guidance. They hold a degree from Emerson College in Media Arts Production with a minor in African American and Africana Studies. Sydney aims to hold space for misogyny affected individuals, especially survivors. She is a proud third generation queer polyamorous Chinese American person; these identities inform the type of projects they take on.

Registration:

​Tickets are available on a sliding scale ($3-$50) to ensure folx of varying economic backgrounds are able to access the sex education they deserve. We ask those who have the financial means to help "spread the wealth" by contributing to the community pool so that we can offer a limited number of sponsored free tickets to those who need it.

​We kindly ask that those who have the financial means to purchase a ticket do so, and save our sponsored free tickets to those who do not.
