About Event

Join us as we welcome Becca Mattingly Lanham (She/Her) and Keisha Morgan (She/Her, They/Them) for Intersections: Diet Culture & Rape Culture on Thursday, October 28th at 7:00 PM EST over Zoom!

This workshop will be recorded and will be made available for a limited time to everyone who registers.

This workshop highlights how sexual violence survivors are uniquely positioned at the intersection of diet culture and rape culture. At this intersection often lies shame regarding sex, pleasure, and our bodies. Rape culture and diet culture teach that our bodies are flawed, broken, and damaged. When trauma is added to this toxic culture, it is easy to understand why we struggle to connect to our bodies, experience good sex, or allow ourselves to enjoy pleasure. Participants will leave this workshop with concrete takeaways on how survivors can reclaim pleasure in all its form along with knowledge of rape culture, diet culture, and how to identify and combat each in their own lives.

All bodies are good bodies.

All topics will be explored using an intersectional lens recognizing the many ways that our identities and life experiences impact our healing. Just like our trauma is political, so is our healing.

Participants will leave this workshop with a working understanding of rape culture, diet culture, how both show up in their lives, and how to combat the influence of these toxic cultures in their lives. Participants will understand how sex and pleasure can be an important part of healing from both rape & diet cultures and will be able to articulate their healing goals with steps and ideas of how to achieve these goals.
