What to Expect: Explore the Soul of Modern Spain: A Journey Through the Reina Sofía’s Masterpieces

Step into the pulse of Modernity through 20th-century art at the Reina Sofía, where revolution, imagination, and history collide. This guided tour begins with the Birth of Modern Art, tracing the explosive creation of Cubism, described as the world’s first universal language. Discover how Pablo Picasso and Juan Gris broke all the rules—fragmenting time and space upon the canvas, redifining art forever.

Next, descend into the dreamlike world of Surrealism, born not only from the brush but also from the pen and the screen. You'll explore how this movement took root in literature and cinema, culminating in the mind-bending visions of Salvador Dalí, whose mysterious subconscious landscapes & enigmatic persona challenged the very nature of Art.

The tour reaches its emotional peak with an in-depth look at one of the most powerful political artworks of all time: Picasso’s Guernica. Spanning over 7 meters wide, this haunting black-and-white masterpiece responds to the horrors of the Spanish Civil War, bearing witness to the bombing of the city of Guernica and standing as a timeless scream against violence and injustice.
