Seminar Wednesday 19 August: Jaclyn Curnow, Edutech: Encounter, Engage with, and Elaborate
Presentation Blurb: Google “Multiple Exposures” and you’ll read about photography or “High Impact Teaching Strategies” (HITS). Teachers empower leaners by providing them with multiple opportunities to encounter, engage with, and elaborate on new knowledge and skills. “Flippity.net”, “Classtools.net” and “FluentKey” are quick and easy Edutech options for “Multiple Exposures”. No student accounts, no costs. Teachers and students simply customise the digital templates, then share the new webpage. Use “Flippity.net” templates to create various customised games such as “Memory” and “Snowman”. Phrases can also be entered into a spreadsheet template to create flashcards or timelines. Use the “SMS Generator” in “Classtools.net” to create written texts that become fun role plays. “FluentKey” is for teachers to utilise the benefits of gamification and multimedia. Teachers create comprehension activities and students interactive with the video by responding to multiple choice, sequencing or cloze activities. An advantage over “Edpuzzle” is the class game option called “FluentKey Live”.
