About Event

Join us in the MCJ Community Slack to kick off our 24 hour 'Ask Me Anything' with Josh Svaty.

Our next MCJ Ask-Me-Anything is with Josh Svaty, owner and operator of Free State Farms, and former Kansas Secretary of Agriculture at the age of 29, Senior Advisor to the Obama Administration and dad of four! We’re really excited to have him join us.

Josh has recently been a guest on our new Skilled Labor Series on the My Climate Journey Podcast, hosted by MCJ Partner Yin Lu. This series is focused on amplifying the voices of folks from the skilled labor workforce, including the electricians, the farmers, the ranchers, the HVAC installers, and others who are on the front lines of rewiring our infrastructure. We decided to create this series after hearing the desire from many members of the community who wanted to learn more from folks in the trades.

Let’s meet our guest…

Meet Josh: Josh owns and operates Free State Farms, a diversified crop and livestock operation in central Kansas. He won four terms to the Kansas Legislature before being named Kansas Secretary of Agriculture at the age of 29. He has served as a Senior Adviser in the Obama Administration's Environmental Protection Agency out of Region 7, Vice President of The Land Institute based in Salina, Kansas, and now advises companies on agriculture and the energy future. He and his wife Kimberly have four children and can be found either on the farm or around the state capitol in Topeka.

Our AMA with Josh will start on Wednesday 16th November at 9am PST - 12pm EST - 4pm GMT and run asynchronously in MCJ's AMA channel for 24 hours.

In Josh’s episode with Yin, they discuss a whole range of topics. Let’s recap:

  • The role agriculture has played in human development

  • The climate change impacts Josh is feeling on Free State Farms

  • A whistle-stop tour of regenerative agriculture, and Josh’s thoughts and feelings on large-scale monoculture practices

  • Solutions addressing the growing lack of predictability for farmers, including increasing crop diversity and livestock

  • Nitricity's unique solution to addressing the GHG impact of fertiliser

  • What happens when we run out of water…

  • …and more!

Set your reminders, and get your questions ready! No need to have listened to Josh’s episode, you can ask him anything!
