About Event

Massachusetts is poised to become the new national leader in the climate critical area of carbon removal. Earlier this year State Senator Cynthia Stone Creem, Majority Leader and Chair of the Senate Committee on Global Warming and Climate Change, introduced the Carbon Dioxide Removal Leadership Act (S. 2096). As law, it would fund the development of diverse projects throughout the commonwealth that removal carbon, generate community benefits and create new jobs.

The bill has been progressing through the committee process and we want it to be law in early 2024. But for that to happen, passionate, informed citizens must engage directly with their state legislators and convince them to co-sponsor and vote S.2096.

To drive this OpenAir is kicking off a citizen-led lobbying effort in October and November to make sure as many state senators and representatives as possible hear from our volunteer community

In this 1-hour workshop, veteran OpenAir citizen lobbyists will guide participants through a practical overview of:

  • S.2096 - what the bill does and why it's needed.

  • Citizen lobbying steps and best practices - from scheduling to recruitment, meeting planning, execution, and follow up.

  • How to drive phone calls to legislator offices using OpenAir's Mobilizer Tool.

  • Your questions and ideas!

Any and all Massachusetts residents with time, energy and a passion for climate action and carbon removal are invited to attend!
