About Event

Are you looking to find leadership roles in law school and early in your career? Do you want to develop your leadership skills?

Join us on October 27th at 2:00 pm as our panel discusses how you can build leadership skills and seek out leadership roles.

Learn more about our panelists:

Hayley Leviashvili: Hayley Leviashvili is the CEO and Founder of the recently launched start-up, gigLAW, which is bridging the blatant gaps within the legal system on both the education level and the way firms receive legal-intern level assistance. When Hayley entered law school at Fordham Law, she knew she did not want to go to BigLaw, yet she found that there were minimal resources to help her find a job placement in any legal field of interest she had. After several internships, Hayley ultimately decided she wanted to explore more facets of the legal industry to truly understand the industry she wanted to be in. She came across the idea to offer her services to multiple lawyers for a monthly retainer fee and never looked back.

Lauren Jackson: Lauren Jackson is an award-winning social entrepreneur, attorney and speaker driven bythe principles of sisterhood, faith and the elevation of women and girls of color. In her role as Founder and Chief Visionary Officer of Instilling My Ability to Naturally Embrace Excellence, Inc. (IMANEE), she has developed a platform dedicated to the development of the world’s next generation of leaders, social justice advocates and community change agents. Additionally, she uplifts women through her creation of the Shero Brunch, an event that cultivates an afternoon of fellowship and connection among women. In 2016, she was selected as a Changemaker to attend the first ever United State of Women Summit in Washington, D.C. Lauren’s legal career has allowed her to serve in various roles with organizations such as the Human Rights Council of New York City, the New York State Department of Human and Civil Rights, the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, and the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. Currently, Lauren works as an Associate with a firm Newark, N.J. and is the managing member of The L. Renee Group, LLC, a business/legal consulting agency. Lauren holds a Juris Doctor from Howard University School of Law (JD ‘17), a Master’s degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration from Seton Hall University (MPA ‘11, BA ‘09). She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and Epsilon Sigma Iota Legal Sorority, Inc.

Kanysha Phillips: Kanysha Elaine Phillips is a litigation associate at Davis Polk and Wardwell, LLP. Kanysha was selected to receive a pro-bono award based on her experience representing incarcerated people who were falsely accused. Kanysha is a graduate of Howard University School of Law and La Salle University. She served as the Treasurer of her law school class. Kanysha formerly served as an intern at the New York State Attorney General's Office as well as the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office. Kanysha has volunteered on numerous political campaigns. Kanysha was a 2018 Ms. JD Fellow. She is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and previously received a scholarship from the Barristers Association of Philadelphia. Kanysha is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.
