Logos Circles Meetup Brno
About the Event
Builders, technologists, cypherpunks, and free thinkers: we invite you to the first edition of Logos Circles Meetup Brno!
This DevConf.cz side event opens up a new Logos Circles group in Brno. It is an opportunity for our community and anyone interested to join Logos core contributor Václav Pavlín to discuss technical and philosophical topics at the intersection of human governance and blockchain technology in relaxed surroundings.
Together, we can realise the latent cypherpunk dream of a cyberstate or network state via a fully decentralised, privacy-preserving, and politically neutral technology stack.
Sign up to join us on 12th June 2025 for drinks and stimulating discussions.
Programme:
18:00 - 19:00: Drinks and discussion
19:00 - 20:00: From Parallel Polis to Decentralised Governance – fun exercise, quick presentation and a discussion on the future of human organisation
21:00: Soft close
From Parallel Polis to Decentralised Governance
Václav Benda wrote “Parallel Polis” in 1978 during the dark days of communist oppression. He tried to summarise how a parallel polis – or second culture – can thrive in the context of an authoritarian state. The world has changed since 1978, but the need for parallel societies lives on and will continue as long as governments fail to adequately support their citizens.
Let’s discuss what we can learn from Parallel Polis and how to apply the strongest ideas to our current context. How can we build a better future and administer governance that serves us as individuals and our communities? Is decentralisation the path forward? Are blockchain technologies the solution? How are these technologies and governance models even related to Parallel Polis?
First, we’ll do a fun exercise - guided imagery, then provide historical background with a short presentation before discussing the opportunities presented by recent technological breakthroughs in the context of human governance.

About Logos
Logos is an open-source community building a fully decentralised, privacy-preserving, and politically neutral technology stack. The stack includes three modular, decentralised protocols: Nomos (consensus), Codex (storage), and Waku (messaging). Combined, they provide the technical foundation for cyberstates, parallel societies, network states, or any borderless public institution based on voluntary consent.
As a community, Logos not only develops and maintains these technologies but also uses them as a base to deploy parallel governance institutions to those mandated by nation states. Eventually, these institutions will populate a competitive marketplace that can fill gaps in governance in the real world, providing trust-minimised, corruption-resistant public services wherever the internet can reach. If these ideas speak to you, we hope you will contribute your passion and skills to Logos.
