Jeff Davis Solo Exhibition: Expanded Color

​Jeff Davis has been an art professor for 20 years and is currently a strategic advisor at Art Blocks. Exploring the intersection of mathematics and art, he embarked on his artistic journey during college. While studying painting and printmaking at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), he began using design software in 1999 to experiment with more precise structures and colors. Embracing technology as a creative tool, he developed generative systems to explore form and color within specific parameters.

​Expanded Color is an exhibition that encapsulates Jeff Davis’s long journey of studying color and structure. Spanning painting, printmaking, and digital algorithm-based art, his work delves deep into color theory and its expressive potential. This exhibition presents a coexistence of physical and digital works.

​In the basement, his digital art projects Color Study and his new series Progression will be displayed. On the first floor, prints and digital artworks created between 1995 and 2020, along with a few paintings, will be showcased. Additionally, animated works from the Bright Moments series, including Reflection, Inflection, and Culmination, will be presented on digital screens. On the second floor, his stained-glass works from Trame will be installed in front of the terrace windows, interacting with natural light. Some additional digital animations and physical works may also be featured.

​Jeff Davis’s work has been exhibited in major cities worldwide. Through the Bright Moments gallery, his work has been shown in Paris, Buenos Aires, Tokyo, Mexico City, London, Berlin, New York, and Los Angeles. His pieces have also been featured in Digital Art Day Sale, Contemporary Discoveries, Grails: Part II, Natively Digital at Sotheby’s in New York, Ex-Machina at Phillips in London, the European Cultural Center in Venice, and Art Dubai. He has collaborated with Studio DRIFT and Ateliers Loire and authored two textbooks, Foundations of Design and Foundations of Color. Furthermore, he is the founder of Davis Editions and co-founder of the Generative Art Foundation.

​Expanded Color is an exhibition that explores the boundless possibilities of color. Through light, structure, and algorithms, it presents an expanded vision of color in a new and immersive way.
