About Event

The Jackson Hole Historical Society & Museum (JHHSM) seeks public input on initial design schematics for a new History Museum & Campus to be located on the southeast corner of the historic Van Vleck Block.

In 2019, during the Jackson Hole Land Trust’s “Save the Block” campaign, the JHHSM identified the Van Vleck Block as the ideal permanent home for the nonprofit organization. Voters in the November 2019 Special Purpose Excise Tax (SPET) ballot agreed, approving a SPET tax to partially support the project with a majority of the vote. In October, 2020, the JHHSM completed purchase of the lot. Work is currently underway on the building and exhibit designs, including the preservation of two historic log structures.

The upcoming session will include short presentations by lead architect Joan Soranno, with exhibit designer Patrick Gallagher, and JHHSM Executive Director Morgan Jaouen. After viewing initial schematics, attendees will be asked to make brief responses on digital sticky notes. All attendees will be thanked with a free pass to the current Museum for use in 2021.

More information about the new History Museum & Campus is available at www.jacksonholehistory.org/home-for-history or by calling the JHHSM at 307-733-2414.
