The hackathon challenges you to develop extraordinary games using Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN). This is your chance to showcase your skills, tap into Fortnite's massive player base, connect with industry titans, and potentially secure investment for your creations!

​Hackathon Rules

​1. Preparation and Submission:

• ​ Ensure your UEFN island is published as a private island before the in-person event.

• ​Add judges and relevant teams as testers to your island.

​2. Game Design:

• ​The game must be competitive in nature.

• ​Playtest thoroughly to ensure the game is enjoyable and balanced.

• ​Begin learning UEFN with this onboarding guide, and learn more about Fortnite creative here    

• ​Make your level design interesting and playtested. Refer to the level design guidelines: [Level Design Guidelines].

​3. Assets and IP Compliance:

• ​Any custom assets must comply with IP laws.

• ​Do not rip off existing templates.

​4. Legal and Compliance:

• ​Read the UEFN EULA carefully to avoid island takedowns after publishing: [UEFN EULA].

​5. Resources and Examples:

• ​Explore fully made example projects with step-by-step guides to learn how to build full-fledged islands using UEFN: [Gameplay Examples].

​6. In-Person Event:

• ​Use the in-person event to gather feedback from judges and other players.

• ​Polish your game based on the feedback before the final judging.

​7. Judging Criteria:

• ​Competitiveness in gameplay (exciting to play as a group or against a group).

• ​Great level design.

• ​Great art design (bonus if the game looks unique compared to typical Fortnite games).

• ​Innovativeness in device mechanics

​Submission Criteria

• ​Submissions must be submitted as an unlisted UEFN island experience and shared with judges via a private island code. 

• ​Submission may include sourced (non-original) assets, but the sourced assets must be noted and Participant must have secured the necessary licenses to include those assets in the Submission.

• ​Submissions must be made using UEFN and demonstrate use of UEFN.

• ​Submissions must be completed prior to 2nd August

• ​Submissions may not contain personal attacks on anyone or any discernible product,

• ​including competitor products.

• ​Submissions may not depict nudity, animal cruelty, any illegal activity or substance, or any other unlawful, offensive or obscene subject matterSubmissions must be family-friendly and appropriate for a broad audience of all ages.

• ​Submissions may not feature any trademarks (including logos) other than those owned by participant 

• ​Submissions must be original pieces,achieved/created by the person who submits the entry. Participants may not copy or otherwise plagiarize Submissions from any source, nor may Submissions include third-party copyrighted material or artwork without the copyright holder’s permission. By entering, participants warrant that their Submissions do not infringe any third party’s rights, and that they have obtained any necessary permissions or licenses from all relevant third parties to submit their Submissions. Participants must not use generative artificial intelligence technology to produce their Submission. Elevation Capital reserves the right to exclude, at any time or stage, any Submission that it believes,in its sole discretion, doesn’t meet these criteria or otherwise
