Join us for a virtual screening and discussion of the powerful film Fracking the System: Colorado’s Oil & Gas Wars
Fracking the System is a thrilling political documentary about environmental racism and political sabotage from the front lines of climate activism. The film tells the story of one Colorado community’s tumultuous ten-year journey to protect themselves from the impacts of fracking and the hard-fought campaign by activists to push back against fracking through a 2018 statewide ballot initiative.
Fracking the System is more than a story. The film’s creators are hoping the powerful account of environmental injustice and the community’s fight against it will inspire Colorado residents to support a ballot initiative to fully phase out oil & gas permits by 2030.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers.
How the Screening Will Work:
We’ll sign on to the Zoom call at 7:00pm ET. Director Brian Hedden will introduce the film and we’ll hear from activists in Colorado about the upcoming ballot initiative to phase out oil & gas permitting in the state.
We’ll then share a special link for everyone to watch the film together and put up a timer on the Zoom call so anyone joining late will know where we’re at in the film.
Once the film concludes, we’ll come back together, share reflections, and have a Q&A with the filmmakers.
Film Description:
When a fracking (oil and gas drilling) well gets moved from a White neighborhood to a BIPOC neighborhood, Trisha, a Latine mother, joins the fight to try and stop it. She eventually joins the state-wide effort to improve the law but the oil and gas industry fights back with harassment, lawsuits, sabotage and $50 million.
Fracking the System reveals shocking and powerful lessons that will inspire the next generation of environmental activists.
