Founder Fridays
🎉 Get ready to kick off your weekend with some entrepreneurial spirit at Founder Fridays! 🚀
Join us from 12 PM to 1 PM (Mountain Time) for an hour of insightful conversation, networking, and a chance to snag a free book from an amazing author.
This isn't your typical webinar – it's a party with a purpose, hosted by the dynamic duo of Brandy Old, and Craig Elias!
During the first Founder Friday of each month, Brandy and Craig dive into a fireside chat with a featured author, dissecting the juiciest parts of their latest book. It's like having VIP backstage passes to the minds of thought leaders and innovators! And the best part? You could be one of the lucky participants to walk away with a free copy of the book discussed – all you have to do is join us live on Zoom and stay tuned for the magic link to claim your prize.
But wait, there's more! If you can't make it or just want to relive the experience, a recording of the chat will be sent out to all registrants.
Plus, keep your eyes peeled for the all-caps FIRESIDE CHAT link in the "Past Sessions" section to catch up on any sessions you've missed.
And don't forget to circle back on the third Friday of the month, where we'll reconvene to chat about how we can apply our newfound knowledge to light up the startup scene, especially in Alberta's tech sector.
Do you have a book or author in mind that screams Founder Fridays? Craig Elias is just a call or text away at +1.403.874.2998 – hit him up with your suggestions.
Let's make this Friday one for the books! 📚✨
Upcoming Sessions
June 7: Apr. 5: Fireside chat with the author of People Powered, Jono Bacon.
June 22: Roundtable discussions on how to apply the learnings from Jono's fireside chat and his book.
Those who register for the entire series or individual sessions will receive recordings of the Fireside chats they register for.
Facilitated by Brandy Old & Craig Elias, Founder Fridays is a series of fireside chats with authors of books that are typically held on the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month; the initiative is based on the success of a fireside chat with Ian Hathaway (Brad Feld’s co-author on their latest book) that had 600+ registrants and gave away all 100 copies of The Startup Community Way to attendees from across Alberta in less than two minutes.
Each month, you can register for either or both of two sessions:
A fireside chat with an author where the last 15 minutes is an audience Q & A session with the participants, and a link is provided so those from Canada can request a free copy of the author’s book.
Discussions are held two weeks later (sometimes with, sometimes without the author) to discuss the different ways the content from the fireside chat and the author’s book can be applied to Alberta’s startup community and tech ecosystem
Founder Fridays are designed to support Alberta’s entrepreneurs, mentors, investors, ecosystem builders, and service providers by:
Upskilling entrepreneurs, mentors, ecosystem builders, and service providers
Developing entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship support in and around post-secondary institutions
Helping startups grow faster and develop the expertise and traction required to attract capital
Increasing the volume of startups and the velocity at which they progress through the Startup Commons stages
Working with existing entrepreneurship support organizations to expand their mentor network
Created by Craig Elias, Founder Fridays is made possible by the generous support of Bow Valley College, the Calgary Innovation Coalition, Alberta Innovates, the Central Alberta Regional Innovation Network (CARIN) and the APEX Regional Innovation Network.
