About Event

As facilitators and event hosts, we often talk about ways to increase engagement and participation. But what about the attendees’ barriers to participation? 🚧
Are we creating inclusive and accessible online spaces? What assumptions and habits do we have, that might be preventing us to create more inclusive online gatherings?

Join us in an interactive session to experiment with others and come up with ideas to solve this challenge. 💪

Facilitated by Ece Kurtaraner, in this Facilitation sandbox session we will:

  • Learn about potential barriers to participation in online events

  • Uncover hidden assumptions and habits we might have

  • Collaborate with others to create a resource for designing inclusive online spaces

About the host:

Ece is a community and events consultant based in Manchester. She helps businesses to create welcoming spaces for their members through online events.

She also hosts the Leapers Accountability Pod, a community that helps freelancers to work well.

With a background in the corporate event sector as an engineering graduate, she leapt into freelancing in 2019. She has gained the title “coworking queen” in freelancer communities, after hosting 100s of virtual coworking sessions since 2020.

Her brand Fora, is all about community, collaboration and finding what works for you. Harking back to her Turkish roots, ‘fora’ itself means ‘to unfurl the sails’.

The Facilitation Sandbox sessions are not about "experts" and "perfection". They are about trying new things out, pushing beyond the comfort zone, making mistakes, reflecting, and learning with peers. The Sandbox is a testing ground, an experimental arena, and a space for us to hone our facilitation skills as a community.
