Meet Chloë Ryan, CEO & Founder of Acrylic Robotics
Chloë Ryan is an artist, engineer, and entrepreneur redefining how we experience and value fine art. As the founder and CEO of Acrylic Robotics, she’s building a future where artists can scale their creativity without sacrificing authenticity—using AI-powered robots that paint with real brushes on canvas.
Chloë’s journey began in Ottawa, where she sold her first painting at 14 and launched a jewelry business to fundraise for housing in Cambodia. Frustrated by the economic limitations of being a working artist, she pivoted to study mechanical engineering at McGill University. There, she fused her passion for art and technology, developing a robotic system that could replicate an artist’s brushstrokes with astonishing fidelity.
In 2021, at just 20 years old, Chloë founded Acrylic Robotics. The company’s technology allows artists to produce limited-edition, hand-painted works—each one physically rendered by a robotic arm trained on their unique style. This approach offers a compelling alternative to prints, enabling artists to earn more while making fine art more accessible to collectors.
Acrylic has since collaborated with artists across Canada and amassed a waitlist of over 500 international creators. Chloë’s vision is clear: to shift the art world away from scarcity-driven value toward a model where quality and creativity are celebrated and shared. As she puts it, “I’d love to see a creative industry where pieces are valued because they’re good, not because they’re rare.”
Her work has been showcased at global events like AWS re:Invent and Art Basel, and she’s been recognized by programs including NEXT Canada’s Next 36 and Centech’s Propulsion accelerator.
