Echoes in the Deep: Linking Data, Silencing Noise
Human activity has expanded to nearly every corner of our ocean, generating underwater noise deep into the ocean. While we know that underwater noise adversely impacts over 180 marine species, data and technology gaps are hindering our ability to fully understand the impact it is causing to ocean life, and our ability to mitigate it.
This session explores how data gaps are hampering underwater noise reduction efforts—and how artificial intelligence (AI), blue tech, market, industry and public sector collaboration can close these critical gaps. From modular technology to innovation in ports facilities and ship design and operations, and predictive modelling, we seek to map out how integrated innovation and breaking down silos can empower the delivery of climate and biodiversity targets through quieter oceans.
