Disability & Sexability
Join us as we welcome Dave Haessig (he/him) and Briana Conley (she/her) for Disability & Sexability on Wednesday, November 22nd @ 7:00pm EST over Zoom!
This workshop will be recorded and will be made available to everyone who registers for 7 days following the workshop.
About the workshop: Sexual rights are human rights. This workshop will challenge attendees’ preconceived notions of people with disabilities and seniors as it relates to sexuality. These preconceived notions are widely held across society, and people with disabilities, seniors, and the professionals and caregivers who support them are no exception. We will guide attendees through identifying and addressing their own prejudices and help them better understand how these prejudices create barriers to healthy sexual expression for people with disabilities. We will finish with highlighting the critical role that service providers, advocates, peers, and allies play in breaking down these barriers to empower and support adults of every age and disability in exploring and expressing their unique sexual identities.
Attendees will:
• examine their own implicit biases around people with disabilities and seniors and sexual activity, the root of these biases, and how to address them personally and in their work
• develop an appreciation for the conventional and alternative avenues for sexual pleasure for people throughout the lifespan and across various disabilities; this includes accessible sexual aids.
• explore the barriers to healthy sexual expression for people with disabilities and be empowered to be sexual advocates for themselves and others
This workshop is expected to run between 90 - 120 minutes.

Closed captions will be provided through Zoom.
