After three days of talks, demos, and more, come unwind at our close-out celebration. We’ll have DJs, dancing, drinks, and some special toasts to close out DEMO’s opening week. Featuring DJs Niidal (Ladin Awad), DJ Auntie Spice (Shabazz), and OSSX (Lektor Scopes and EQUISS),
OSSX
OSSX is a New Jersey-based music group known for their unique and innovative take on the Jersey club music scene. Comprised of EQUISS, and Lektor Scopes, OSSX has made a name for themselves with their energetic live performances, creative remixes, and boundary-pushing original tracks.
They quickly gained a following for their dynamic sets and innovative approach to the genre. In addition to their live performances, OSSX is known for their mixes of unreleased music. They began to attract attention from music fans and industry professionals alike, and soon found themselves playing gigs at clubs across the country.They have created mixes for renowned music publications such as Resident Advisor and FACT Magazine, showcasing their ability to curate and present cutting-edge music in an exciting and engaging way. These mixes have helped to solidify their reputation as one of the most exciting and innovative groups hailing from the east coast.
Niidal
Ladin Awad is an artist, DJ and writer based in NYC. Her work seeks to abstract narratives and histories through which cross-cultural Black life is viewed and understood – while exploring interventions on our collective relationships to movement, memory, and time.
SHABAZZ
Diane Varnie, known professionally as SHABAZZ, is a multi-hyphenate creative with over a decade of experience in the entertainment industry, specializing in marketing, communications, event production, and artist/project management. Her career began as a writer during the influential 2010s blog era, eventually evolving into a self-taught publicist who supported emerging artists with online placements and music release rollouts through her boutique agency, Electric Circus.
Recognized by Rolling Stone as NYC’s “go-to for tapping into cutting-edge talent,” SHABAZZ has curated and produced debut performance events for Billboard Hot 100 artists including Migos, 21 Savage, Lil Uzi Vert, Post Malone, and Rae Sremmurd, among others. These culture-shaping moments have been covered by major outlets such as The New York Times, Billboard, The FADER, and more.
Her creative consulting and event work has included collaborations with Universal Music Group (Interscope, Def Jam, Republic, Capitol), Sony Music Entertainment (Epic, RCA), Warner Music Group (Atlantic, 300), as well as COMPLEX, Boiler Room, Tumblr, Red Bull, Courvoisier, Jack Daniels, New Balance, and PUMA, among others.
Currently, SHABAZZ works full-time as a Project Manager at Saint Heron. She is also a DJ, hosting mixes through her passion project Auntie·ism on Lot Radio and NTS. Her DJ sets have been featured at notable venues and institutions including The Museum of Modern Art, Performance Space New York, Public Records, Nublu 151, and events for UBER and more.
