DEMO2025 Creative Science Mainstage Talks
Join us for Creative Science Track Talks, presented in partnership with the Simons Foundation.
NEW INC’s member cohort consists of 5 unique Tracks or focus areas guided by a Mentor-in-Residence: Art & Code, Cooperative Studies, Creative Science, Social Architecture, and XR (Extended Realities). At the core of DEMO’s Opening Program, members share their individual projects during Track Talks which are followed by a group conversation moderated by the Track Mentor-in-Residence.
Creative Science supports artists and creative practitioners employing modes of scientific inquiry to advance storytelling. Our Creative Science Track members feature a lineup of artists, researchers, healers, and technologists exploring speculative design, hybrid ecologies, biotechnology, and experimentation through scientific study.
To kick off our Creative Science Track Talks, marine biologist, policy expert, and writer Dr. Ayana Elizabeth Johnson will join us for a clear-eyed conversation on the future of environmental advocacy. As the author of What If We Get It Right?—a New York Times bestseller and a Smithsonian Book of the Year—Johnson firmly believes that imagination and creativity are integral to our species’ ability to solve the biggest, most threatening challenges of our time. She inspires visions of a transformed and replenished world, which we each play a role in shaping.
Featured presenters include Alvaro Azcarraga, EcoRove, Kinda Studios, Spolia, and Wendi Yan & Darren Zhu. The presentations will conclude with a group discussion moderated by Creative Science Track's Mentor-in-Residence, Elizabeth Hénaff.

About NEW INC
Expanding on the New Museum’s commitment to new art and new ideas, NEW INC is the Museum’s cultural incubator supporting creative practitioners and small businesses working across art, design, and technology. Now in Year 11, NEW INC’s membership model continues to support a diverse range of creative practitioners with a values-driven program and safe space for gathering and developing new creative projects and businesses. In 2020, NEW INC launched ONX Studio, an XR accelerator for artists, in partnership with the Onassis Foundation. NEW INC was cofounded by New Museum’s Toby Devan Lewis Director Lisa Phillips and former Deputy Director Karen Wong in 2014 as the first museum-led cultural incubator.
About New Museum
The New Museum is the only museum in New York City exclusively devoted to contemporary art. Founded in 1977, the New Museum is a center for exhibitions, information, and documentation about living artists from around the world. From its beginnings as a one-room office on Hudson Street to the inauguration of its first freestanding building on the Bowery designed by SANAA in 2007, the New Museum continues to be a place of experimentation and a hub of new art and new ideas.
