About Event

Dr. Sheena Howard is an award-winning author, filmmaker and scholar. In 2014 Sheena became the first Black woman to win an Eisner Award for her first book, Black Comics: Politics of Race and Representation  (2013).

On Thursday, June 16, she joins us to talk about the importance of representation in stories, particularly in stories about ideals and superheroes. Learn more about inclusivity in comic books from the woman who literally wrote the book on the subject!

Our community's oldest and longest running event is now a weekly event great for learning, getting inspired, and meeting new people!

Every Thursday we gather to hear from members and friends of our community about something they're working on, something they've learned, or something they're interested in.

The best part of S&T is that the collection of talks are often very eclectic, and as we always say, are just the beginning of new conversations.

Want to share, or recommend someone you know to be a guest presenter? Email team@indyhall.org and we'll help make it happen.

This event is open to members and guests, you just need to RSVP.
